Recommended Admission Profile
The Master's Degree in Cognition and Society is preferably aimed at graduates in psychology, philosophy, anthropology, sociology, political science and biology. The recommended entry profile requires candidates understand core explanations on human cognition and sociability, as well as have a working knowledge of English (B2 level).
Entry
Students interested in applying for a spot on the programme must submit their pre-registration application within the deadline stated on the website, and in accordance with the procedure for each academic year, as set by the UIB Centre for Postgraduate Studies (CEP).
The CEP will verify whether applicants fulfil the requirements for admission to the programme and, subsequently, submit the application to the programme coordinators to consider and decide on admission.
Finally, the CEP will publish the list of admitted students and provide the enrolment dates.
This procedure is governed by Regulatory Agreement of 23rd March 2022 that governs Entry and Admission to Official Master’s Programmes, published in the extraordinary issue of FOU no. 534 of 31st March 2022 (https://seu.uib.cat/fou/acord/14423/), implementing Article 18 of Royal Decree 822/2021 of 28th September that sets out the Organisation of Higher Education Programmes and the Quality Assurance Procedure.
Admission
The programme coordination team will be responsible for managing admissions.

The teaching languages on the programme are Spanish and Catalan, since both are co-official languages in the Balearic Islands. Lecturers may teach their classes in either language.
In this sense, non-native students must at least have an accredited level equivalent to B2 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment (Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, 2002) from the European Union Council. B2-level Spanish and Catalan will be deemed accredited for candidates who fulfil any of the following conditions:

- Having taken university courses in the stated language
- Having taken high school studies in the stated language
- Having passed an interview with the master's coordinators.
English Language Accreditation
As stated, English is also a language of instruction on the programme. In this sense, and so as to ensure proper development of academic activities, applicants must accredit a B2 level of English. This level shall be deemed accredited where candidates fulfil one of the following conditions:
- Submitting certificates or diplomas equivalent to a B2 level, in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment (Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, 2002)
- Having taken university courses in the stated language
- Having taken high school studies in the stated language
- Having passed an interview with the body responsible for admission to the programme.
Admission Criteria
Although not mandatory, candidates are asked to submit one or more letters of recommendation from lecturers who have taught them in the past. These letters shall be taken into consideration in the event of a tie.
The following criteria shall be used to assess candidates' merits:
- The average mark from the academic record/transcript for the degree granting admission to the master's programme: 80%
- Being a graduate in any of the programme's core disciplines (psychology, anthropology, sociology, political science, philosophy or biology): 15%
- Letter of recommendation: 5%.
After being admitted, students must attend a mandatory tutorial (this may be done over the phone or via e-mail, Skype or similar for candidates who do not live in Majorca) to support them with any queries about their enrolment, choice of electives, etc. Students must first enrol for the 30 mandatory credits.
