The universities of Vic, Lleida, and the Balearic Islands participate in this interuniversity Master’s programme. Inclusive education is an international trend that, in the last few decades, has sought to reduce the processes of exclusion to which some groups of people are subjected. Increasing the availability of education to everyone along with the elimination of barriers that inhibit these groups from fully participating in educational and social processes is the goal of the inclusion movement. Under this framework, the Master’s degree in inclusive education responds to the need to constantly update education professionals in these matters in order to contribute to the development and improvement of inclusive social and educational institutions.
This Master’s programme is designed for professionals who work in education or social services (educators, educational psychologists, psychologists, teachers of all levels, social educators, social workers, etc.) and who wish to further educate themselves on matters related to inclusive education in order to promote equal access to opportunities to all people. It is also directed toward recent graduates from programmes related to the previously mentioned professions.
What skills will you acquire?
The Master’s degree programme in inclusive education provides graduates and professionals with specific training and enables them to design, apply, and evaluate inclusive education proposals and projects as well as research and complete a doctoral thesis on concepts related to inclusive education. Students will acquire competencies that provide them with the ability and the opportunity to be original when developing and/or applying educational ideas from an inclusion-based framework, both in professional practice and in research.
What career opportunities will you have?
This Master’s programme does not enable graduates to practice a regulated profession. On a professional level, the draw of this programme is that it offers graduates and working professionals specific training related to the care of disabled persons or those at risk of social or educational exclusion. (This could be for those who practice or are enabled to practice regulated professions, i.e., early childhood education teachers, primary school teachers, secondary school teachers, etc. or non-regulated professions, i.e., social educator, social workers, occupational therapist, etc.). In this way, the value of the Master’s programme lies in the advanced and specialized education and training that it offers regarding inclusive education.
High-quality official study
Legislation requires that official Spanish degree programmes receive a positive assessment from the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA, by its Spanish acronym). This process is known as verification, and it serves to ensure that education programmes are properly designed to provide the competencies and reach the learning goals around which the programmes are built. In the results you can find reports on official study programmes.
The European Higher Education Area requires that there be a system in place to ensure the quality of degree programmes .
The Master's programme is subject to constant assessment and improvement processes that guarantee that it maintains a certain level of prestige and renown in Europe. You can see the results of the assessment processes in the section on quality .
