This master's degree provides the student with the opportunity to acquire a solid foundation and advanced knowledge in Intelligent Systems, one of the most requested and most promising fields in information technology. The term Intelligent Systems describes systems and methods that simulate aspects of intelligent behavior so that the systems themselves learn and deduce new knowledge and so increase their power to solve problems. In order to achieve this goal, it is necessary to acquire multidisciplinary knowledge such as engineering, mathematics, computational linguistics or neuroscience.
The master's degree deals with topics such as automatic learning, semantic web, big data analysis, computer vision, sensors, control of robots, data mining and complex networks, among others. The master has two goals. On the one hand, to train highly qualified professionals providing them with the knowledge and values necessary to solve complex problems and on the other hand, to enable the student to face both theoretical and applied research activities in Intelligent Systems. The master's degree has five optional modules that deal with the most interesting lines in Intelligent Systems, enabling the student to choose the profile that best suits its personal goals.
What will you learn?
Once the master's degree has been completed, the student will have the necessary knowledge and skills to satisfactorily face a problem in the field of Intelligent Systems. For this reason, it is essential in the first place to find out which are the information needs. Once the information is available, the process must be modeled and simulated interpreting the results to determine the suitability of the chosen model. The master's degree will give the student the mathematical and statistical tools to design and develop applications and services in the field of intelligent systems. The multidisciplinary training granted by the different courses of the master's degree will allow the student to integrate knowledge from different fields of intelligent systems to be able to carry out tasks beyond their own field.
To bring the scientific research closer to the student, he has to be able to assess the importance of the Documentary sources, as well as reading and understanding publications in this technological field. Finally, emphasis will be placed on understanding the financing mechanisms of the research and on the development, presentation and defense of a comprehensive project in in the field of Intelligent Systems.

The proposal for this master's degree has its origin in the growing need to provide formation in the field of Intelligent Systems and their applications in order to respond to the scientific and business challenges existing in fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Vision, Mobile Robotics or Internet of Things.
In general, the master's degree has two outputs, one focused primarily on research and another focused on professional skills. On the one hand, for those students who want to continue their academic training, the master's degree will provide them with excellent training to face a doctorate in any subject related to Intelligent Systems. In particular, the University of the Balearic Islands offers the doctorate program in Information Technology and Communications in which most lines of research are part of the field of Intelligent Systems.
On the other hand, from the professional point of view, the great advances in Intelligent Systems urge more and more the companies of this emerging sector to require the incorporation of graduates with the knowledge and skills necessary to face and solve problems of this nature.
