What is it?

The Master’s degree programme in teaching, along with an appropriate undergraduate degree, allows graduates to apply for teaching positions in public institutions via the prescriptive access system and to teach in charter schools and private schools. The contents of the programme ensure that students will be able to confront the challenges of the education system; these contents are adapted to new training requirements. The degree addresses the need to prepare teachers who are able to tackle the obstacles that threaten education in the 21st century.

What will you learn?

The officially recognized Master’s degree in teaching offers an inclusive and broad initial knowledge base upon which later training and education related to the various aspects of the teaching profession will be founded. In accordance with the guidelines laid out by the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation of Spain, and consistent with the so-called “Dublin Descriptors”, students in this degree programme will acquire the capability to apply the knowledge and skills earned in their respective undergraduate degrees and use problem solving abilities to teach in the various areas and contexts that they will face throughout their careers, while being prepared to handle the uncertain and dynamic nature of educational processes. The programme will also prepare students to integrate new information and confront the complexity of the educational system and process as well as reflect on social responsibility and the ethics related to the practice of their profession as educators. This Master’s degree programme also aims to ensure that students know how to communicate and justify their conclusions, judgements, and decisions to both professionals and education specialists as well as to the school community and the general public. This programme also serves as a first step on the way to enabling future teachers to individually continue their own professional development as teachers.

High-quality official study

Legislation requires that official Spanish degree programmes receive a positive assessment from the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA, by its Spanish acronym). This process is known as verification, and it serves to ensure that education programmes are properly designed to provide the competencies and reach the learning goals around which the programmes are built. In the results you can find reports on official study programmes.

The European Higher Education Area requires that there be a system in place to ensure the quality of degree programmes.

The Master's programme is subject to constant assessment and improvement processes that guarantee that it maintains a certain level of prestige and renown in Europe. You can see the results of the assessment processes in the section on quality.
